about the venue
The Gwyn Hall Theatre is a Victorian building, which has been adapted for easier access. There is a lift to all floors with designated accessible toilets on each floor.
The building is accessed through the main entrance, with automated doors. Our Box Iffice and cafe area are situated adjacent to the main entrance, with flat floor.
Our Auditorium Stalls area is on the ground floor, the Circle is on the first floor accessed with stairs or via the lift.
There are 3 cinema screens in the building.
The POD and Studio Cinema on the 3rd floor, accessed via stairs or lift.
The Auditorium is a flexible space which converts to cinema when not being used for live performances.
The CEA card is required for any companions attending the cinema to gain a free ticket. Details of this scheme can be found here: https://www.ceacard.co.uk
emergency evacuation information
All FOH staff and managers have to undertake regular fire/incident evacuation training, to ensure customers are safely evacuated.
During these sessions training is provided on safely evacuating any wheelchair users, using the recommended evac chairs, if there was no access to the lift.
The cafe on the ground floor is a light airy space, which can become loud and echoey whilst people are waiting to go to the Auditorium for a busy show. There is a further bar area on the 1st floor, accessed via lift or staircase, which may be a bit quieter. Our FOH staff will be on hand to advise you if you need access to a quieter space where we can accommodate you.
There is a meeting room on the first floor for small meetings and conferences.
There are toilets on every floor, including accessible toilets.
All of the corridors and internal doors are wide enough for wheelchair access. the internal doors are not automated but our staff will be on hand to assist if necessary.
special access information
There are 2 wheelchair spaces with companion seats in the stalls at either end of Row A, with a further overflow area in the Upper Circle. The Upper Circle is not always available. so prior arrangement must be made if wheelchair spaces are required.
The lift can accommodate a maximum of 16 people. There is enough space for 3 wheelchairs with companions in the lift.
The lift is accessed via the ground floor corridor.
There are 2 staircases which allow access to each floor. One original spiral staircase, which continuously runs from the ground floor to the 3rd floor.
The main staircase has many flights, with platforms after each flight.
We operate an induction loop system in the main Auditorium and the Studio cinema.
Audio description is also available for cinema in the main Auditorium and the Studio cinema.
There are Evac chairs which can be used as wheelchairs if necessary. Staff are trained in the safe use of these Evac chairs/wheelchairs.
There is an induction loop at the Box Office.
There is an induction loop operating in the Box Office / cafe area on the ground floor.
Registered guide dogs and assistance dogs are welcome at the venue, if your dog needs water please ask a member of the FOH team.
If anyone needs assistance with interval drinks or food, please contact a member of the FOH team or request this via the Box Office at the time of booking.
If a hard copy is required in large print please email or call the Box Office and we will print and mail to you.
There is limited disabled parking outside of the venue, however there are drop off points outside, with lowered pavement access.
